Lieutenant L. M. Rogers, Deputy Head of Pediatric department at the 34 Military Hospital, has commended Relief Society (The Relief Society is for women ages 18 and over whose purpose is to provide support for the temporal and spiritual needs of all women in the Church, as well as others who are in need.) sisters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for donating assorted sanitary items to the children’s ward division of the hospital.

Sister Kumba Ngebah, representative of the Relief Society President explained that the gesture was part of lined up activities for the celebration of the group’s 177th Anniversary. “Our motto "Charity Never Faileth" means that we are there to relieve people of their burden. Donations such as this, are done on yearly basis” she added.
She further hinted at the group’s intentions to make some donations to organizations such as Ola Children’s hospital.
Speaking to Church Newsroom, Aminata Kamara mother of Alhassan Koroma, a patient at the children’s Ward who is currently responding to treatment after being involved in a motor accident, expressed gratitude to the group for their support towards the recovery of the children.
“The best time to know who truly loves you is when you are sick. I wish the Church will continue to show love to the patients at the hospital.” She said.
The Relief Society, was originally organized in 1842 to administer welfare needs and quickly expanded to encompass the spiritual as well as temporal needs of the Saints.The early to mid-20th century, Relief Society expanded relief efforts and community involvement with public and private welfare agencies (including the Church’s own) and included a “more varied and extensive educational program.”
The mission of Relief Society includes increasing personal faith and righteousness, strengthening homes and families and seeking out and helping those in need. Today, the Relief Society creates a sisterhood for women in the Church and opportunities for rendering service to all members of the congregation, as well as to the global community. Relief Society women serve in leadership roles, share the gospel, provide service, teach, train and deliver sermons.
